Kate Shimkus

Vice President of Events

As Vice President of Events, Kate is responsible for overseeing and coordinating large-scale W.P. Carey events, including Homecoming and the Spring Banquet. In addition, she organizes monthly socials that bring Business Student Council  members together and strengthens our internal community. She also collaborates with various W.P. Carey clubs and organizations to plan smaller-scale activities that promote connection, engagement, and outreach across the business school.

Outside of the Business School Council, Kate is  a McCord Scholars Program Mentor, a Barrett Advising Student Leader, and was a previous WPC 101 Facilitator.

Kate views the Business School Council (BSC)  as  “one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience. It’s given me the opportunity to grow alongside a group of driven, supportive peers while building a strong sense of community within W.P. Carey. I’ve been able to lead initiatives that enhance the student experience and cultivate meaningful connections across campus”. Her favorite part about BSC is the incredible sense of community it fosters and how  each member brings a deep commitment to W.P. Carey. “Their passion and dedication are evident in everything they do”.
